• U.S. Export Control Counseling
In the global marketplace, the range of potential customers and markets for high technology products spans the world, and not just Florida or the United States. Accordingly, we advise clients on the particular aspects of U.S. export control laws and regulations, which govern advanced technology products and know-how as they are exported from or transit through the United States. This includes such complex, yet often unforeseen restrictions such as the disclosure of controlled technology to foreign nationals in the United States, as well as the re-export of exported goods to a denied person or destination, which actions may subject clients to severe civil penalties and criminal liability. We help clients determine the status and classification of a particular item of technology, assess the regulatory restrictions of the various federal agencies with jurisdiction in the area, including the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Export Administration, the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, and the State Department’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, and, if necessary, prosecute and obtain licenses for export.
